Queen Elizabeth II has lost her husband, Prince Philip, who recently had a heart surgery and spent more than one month in hospital.
According to a statement by the Buckingham Palace, the Queen’s husband died at the age of 99 on Friday.
Part of the statement read, “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
The Royal palace added that it would disclose further details “in due course.”
