The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced that former governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada (retd.) will be heading the screening committee of the party’s gubernatorial aspirants for the forthcoming Anambra poll.
The party disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Organising Secretary, retired Col. Austin Akobundu, in Abuja on Saturday.
Akobundu also stated that the South-East Zonal Secretary, Chief James Ugwu has been picked to serve as Secretary of the committee.
Other members include Senator Ehigie Uzamere, Mrs Martha Bodunrin and Jones Onyereri.
He said that the screening exercise is scheduled for Monday April 12, and Tuesday April 13, at the National Working Committee Hall, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, at 9:00 a.m.
“It is expected that the aspirants will exercise exemplary conduct and strict adherence to rules and regulations during the assessment that will justify the confidence reposed in them by the leadership of our party,” he said.
The Anambra election has been fixed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for November 6 as Governor Wille Obiano’s tenure is set to end by March 2022.
So far, the contest is taking on a fierce look as the APC & PDP vow to wrestle power from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA). Last week, an APGA aspirant, former CBN governor, Chukwuma Soludo was attacked.
