The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Leo Irabor, would hold a meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State alongside other service chiefs.
Reports have it that the service chiefs earlier visited the 2 Division before proceeding to the Governor’s office at the Secretariat in Agodi area of Ibadan.
Confirming the development, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Taiwo Adisa explained that the service chiefs are already in Ibadan to see the governor. However, he did not give specific details about their reason for visiting Makinde.
When contacted, He said, “Yes, they are in Ibadan already. They are almost here to meet the governor.”
Recall that Oyo state recently witnessed a clash between farmers and Fulani herdsmen over allegations of killings, kidnappings and rape of women on their farms especially in Shasha area of the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari earlier ordered the newly decorated service chiefs to secure Nigeria within few weeks following the surge in kidnappings, banditry and other criminal activities.
Buhari expressed optimism that the security level would have improved before the rainy season since most farmers fled their farms over the attacks by unknown gunmen.
He gave the directive while decorating the service chiefs with their new ranks at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President advised them to spot competent officers, deploy them to comb the crime hotspots across the country.
He added, “During our four-hour security meeting, I have taken the responsibility as the Commander-in-Chief for you to go out into the field and secure the country.
