The Peoples Democratic Party has intervened in the rift between Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.
Trouble started when the two governors uttered different opinions regarding open grazing and the use of arms by herdsmen.
While Ortom banned open grazing in Benue State, Bala faulted the governor, adding that the herdsmen only carry arms for self-defense.
Consequently, Ortom branded Bala as a terrorist, adding that he was “part of the terrorist Fulani organization terrorizing the country”.
However, after Bala told herdsmen that they are free to live in any part of the country, Ortom ordered them to leave his state if they would not respect the laws.

This prompted the PDP to intervene in the clash. The party urged the two governors to be calm in order to restore peace in the nation.
PDP tweeted, “@OfficialPDPNig assures that it has waded into the rift between Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, and his Benue State counterpart, Governor Samuel Ortom.
“The PDP calls for calm as the internal reconciliation mechanism introduced by the hierarchy of the party between the two governors subsists.
“The PDP however urges the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the escalated security challenges in our country.”
