The leadership of the Borno state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has adopted the consensus arrangement for the forthcoming ward congress in the state.
The decision was taken at a meeting of party stakeholders held on Tuesday in Maiduguri and led by the acting state Chairman of the party, Ali Dalori.
The decision was put to a voice vote after the State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur moved the motion for the adoption and was seconded by a former member of the House of Representatives, Abdu Musa.
Dalori promised all contestants a level-playing ground.
After the adoption of the decision, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who is the leader of the party, called for strict adherence to APC rules and regulations guiding the conduct of congresses.
Zulum warned members against indulging in activities that could threaten the unity of the party while expressing concern about how non-compliance with party rules and regulations in some states led to litigations which affected its chances in the previous general elections.
Former governors Maina Ma’aji Lawan and Kashim Shettima; Senators representing Borno South, Mohammed Ali Ndume and Borno North, Abubakar Kyari were all present at the meeting.
The ward congresses come up on Saturday, July 31st, 2021.
