The Senate has approved the appointment of Mr. Haliru Nababa as the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
Nababa was confirmed after the Senate Committee on Interior, led by Senator Kashim Shettima, screened him. The Committee also tendered a report that found him qualified for the role.
Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari earlier urged the Senate to confirm Nababa as the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service following his appointment.
Buhari asked for the confirmation in a letter sent to the Senate.
Senate President, Ahmed Lawan read Buhari’s letter during Plenary recently.
Similarly, the Senate has approved the nomination of Wakil Bukar for the position of a Commissioner for the Federal Civil Service Commission.
This is just as the Committee on Establishment and Public Service submitted its report during plenary on Tuesday.
Addressing the lawmakers, Chairman of the Committee, Sen. Ibrahim Shekarau said Wakil has all the required qualifications, as specified by the constitution, to be a commissioner.
He added that the Committee did not find any security report that incriminated him of committing any offense prior to his nomination.
Shekarau said, “There was no petition before the Committee against the nomination and appointment of the nominee as a Commissioner.
“Accordingly, he is hereby affirmed to be fit and the proper person for confirmation by the Senate for appointment as Commissioner in the Federal Civil Service Commission.”
Consequently, the Senate confirmed Wakil’s nomination as a Commissioner based on the Committee’s report.
