Osun state police have confirmed the arrest of a 35-year-old man identified as Wasiu Tijani, and two others. It has also been reported that the men were dragged before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday for allegedly beating up a monarch in his palace.
The suspected hoodlums identified as Wasiu Tijani, Tairu Akangbe and Samad Mutairu, were said to have invaded the palace of a monarch, the Alabudo of Abudo, a community in the Egbedore Local Government Area of the state, Oba Morufu Olawale, and assaulted him.
The hoodlums were also accused of beating up labourers working at the palace of the Alabudo. The police prosecutor, Kayode Asanbe, mentioned in a statement that the defendants were arraigned on two counts of breach of peace and assault.
He also stated that the incident took place on February 20, 2021, when the suspected hoodlums stormed Abudo, near Awo, and went to the palace of the monarch and beat him up severely. They entered the palace with various kind of weapons and using a machete to slap the monarch and beat up labourers working in the palace. The offences were said to have contravened sections 249 (D) and 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34 Vol II. Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
