Like the saying goes “Soldier go, soldier come, barracks no dey change base”, politicians can last but not for a lifetime. While some are able to maintain their relevance base, some lose it quicker than expected.
Based on speculations and recent developments, this list gives to us, people in the political sphere who may last only as long as 2020.
1. Incumbent Vice-President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo
Since the start of the year, Osinbajo has been trapped in a series of corruption allegations and as we know, there is no smoke without fire. Over the past year, he has literally become invisible in a government where he is supposedly second in command, and it would be no further surprise if he doesn’t ring a bell much after 2020.
3. Godswill Akpabio
Caught in the middle of serious corruption allegations, this politician has stepped on some toes as he takes on the position of a whistleblower in the ongoing NDDC drama. We know what may happen to someone who snitches, coupled with the anger of Nigerians at the moment.
4. Ibrahim Magu
Already, Magu has been suspended from his position as chairman of the anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over corruption allegations. The year has been hot for him and this might just be the end just like his predecessors.
5. Godwin Obaseki
The present governor of Edo state has really played rough and strong in the run-up to the state’s governorship elections. If he loses, it would be a major blow and who knows, he may never recover from it, considering all the efforts that have been put into the race.
