Who is Wande Coal? Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. Wande was born in Lagos Island, Lagos State, Nigeria. His parent’s names are Chief Ibukun Olufuto and Omolara Oluwayemisi Ojosipe. Wande is the first of two children.
He had his primary education at Staff Nursery and Ijaniki Primary School, while his secondary education was in Federal Government College Lagos. He studied Curriculum Studies at the University Of Lagos.
Wande coal has a son, with whom he shares a striking resemblance. His mum, Temitope Ogunnusi was rumored to have hidden her pregnancy from the music star, until she put to bed. According to reports, she was 20 at the time.
Wande joined the choir at a very tender age at his church. He delved into the Nigerian entertainment industry as a dancer at first. In 2006, Coal got signed into Mo’Hits Records, a label owned by Don Jazzy. He featured on D’banj’s Rundown? Fuck you up album, on the singles “Loke”, “Tonosibe”, and “Why Me”.
He also played a major role in the release of the album “Curriculum Vitae (CV). His first single, “Ololufe” has been cited as one of the greatest love songs ever written by a Nigerian.
Wande eve initially released his debut album “Mushin To Mo’Hits”, which widely received recognition across Nigeria, UK, and the USA.
Coal has also recorded numerous songs with other Prominent Nigerian Artists. The likes of Dr. Sid, D’Prince, Ikechukwu, Wizkid, to mention a few.
In 2012, D’Banj and Don Jazzy, the co-founders of Mo’Hits record and a fall-out and artists like Wande Coal, Dr. Sid, D’Prince got signed into Mavin’s Records, Don’Jazzy’s new label, with the addition of Tiwa Savage, who acted as the label’s first lady.
Coal broke free from Mavin’s in October 2013. He released a single “Baby Face”.
After a long pause from the music industry, Wande made a comeback with his sophomore album, “Wanted”.
Wande Coal is arguably one of the richest music acts in Nigeria. He has been estimated to be worth about $1.7 million dollars.
