Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State for branding Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State as a terrorist.
He faulted Ortom in a series of tweets on Monday night after the Benue state governor called Bala a Fulani terror member because he supported the use of arms by herdsmen for self-defense.
Reacting to the clash, Fani-Kayode said he could mention two governors who are terrorists, adding that Bala is not a terrorist.
The former minister wrote, “If you are looking for a terrorist governor I can name one or two but Bala is not amongst them. He is a leading member of the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party) Ministers Forum, a group which I belong to.
“It would serve our interest better if we learnt to separate the wheat from the chaff and stop demonizing people simply because they do not share our views. To call Bala a terrorist is unacceptable and erroneous. I doubt that has ever killed a chicken let alone a human being.”
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party has intervened in the rift between the two governors.
The party urged the two governors to be calm in order to restore peace in the nation.
PDP tweeted, “@OfficialPDPNig assures that it has waded into the rift between Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, and his Benue State counterpart, Governor Samuel Ortom.
“The PDP however urges the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the escalated security challenges in our country.”
