The New Nigeria Peoples Party has urged the All Progressives Congress to caution its leaders and members not to cause chaos in Osun State.
A leader of the Osun State chapter of the party, Mr. Tosin Odeyemi urged the APC to intervene in the rift between Governor Gboyega Oyetola and his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola.
Odeyemi sued for peace in a statement released on Monday, saying the rift could cause chaos among supporters of the two leaders.
Part of the statement read, “It is also unfortunate that the former Governor and now Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, can allow sentiments to take over him to make statements capable of heating up the polity unnecessarily.
“Our people have enough to battle already than for the ruling party to unleash another political crisis on the masses. A word is enough for the wise!”
Aregbesola earlier raised the alarm over the defection of some unscrupulous persons to the APC.
Despite not mentioning their names, the minister branded them as killers.
However, he admitted that the party could accept all kinds of people but he advised that such shady people should be avoided when it is time to make strong decisions.
This is just as sources disclosed that Aregbesola’s relationship with his successor, Adegboyega Oyetola had become strained after some prominent persons joined the party in the state.
The minister’s camp was not happy that Oyetola brought a particular politician to the party.
