A former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has responded to rumours that he plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC).
In an opinion article made available to major newspapers across the country, Fani-Kayode disclosed that many people have reached out to him out of genuine concern while others only spit malicious words borne out of ignorance.
Reacting to claims that his voice has been silenced in the political scene, the former minister said he is “too big, too intelligent, too experienced and too forthright to fall into any trap. It is impossible to castrate a lion, render it impotent or silence its roar.”
Fani-Kayode described himself as the voice of the voiceless and a warrior that is not afraid to speak the truth to authorities.
Lamenting over the fights that usually follow condemnation of oppositions, he queried, “Are we so divided that we can’t even talk to one another and take pictures together without causing a public stir and setting the Internet on fire? Do you know that I was prosecuted for seven years by PDP governments which tried to jail me simply for speaking out against them yet it did not deter me?
“Ask those that were in the Yar’Adua and Jonathan administrations. After a while, they got tired because the more they tried to intimidate me into silence or make me flee the country, the more I stood my ground.”
