The All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged security agencies to reveal the sponsors of the recent abduction of students from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata-Marafa Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Expressing joy over the release of the students, the APC reiterated its commitment to providing security for Nigerians as the ruling party.
A statement by the National Secretary of its Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe applauded all stakeholders for their selfless roles in ensuring that the students reunited with their families in good health.
Part of the statement read, “We rejoice with family members and loved ones over the safe return of the schoolgirls. Albeit our security challenges, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will stop at nothing to ensure the security and well-being of the people.
“We will achieve this through our security services synergized operations and use of modern technological tools to ensure better intelligence gathering, vigilance, surveillance as well as collaboration with communities and stakeholders at different levels.”
This is just as the Senate President; Ahmad Lawan raised the alarm that some persons are benefitting from the current surge in insecurity across the nation.
Speaking on Tuesday after confirming the new service chiefs, Lawan urged the new military leaders to stop the ugly trend.
The newly confirmed service chiefs include Maj. Gen. Lucky Eluonye Onyenuchea lrabor as Chief of Defence Staff; Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru (Chief of Army Staff); Rear Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, (Chief of Naval Staff); and Air Vice Marshal Isiaka O. Amao as Chief of Air staff.
